CD REPORT FROM Steve Johnson Another full field for Super organiser Mike Amery’s Stallard event on a cold but fortunately dry morning. It is a shame not everyone turned up, as they missed a good race and also deprived other riders of a chance to compete. The first of three 17 mile laps saw Steve Baillie and Mick Day making an early attack which hung off the front of the bunch for some fifteen miles. The conditions were hard with long exposed sections and some long drags and they could probably have done with a couple more guys to make it stick. The second lap saw lots of probing attacks with Mick Day again making his presence felt, but it wasn’t until the last lap anything significant happened when Steve Johnson opened a small gap on the back of the circuit, soon to be joined by Steve Baillie and both riding as C’s. The gap opened to about 40 seconds and at the finish Johnson came round an understandably tired Baillie for the win. In the sprint Andy Donaldson took the honours in the D’s from the ever aggressive Mick Day who did well after his earlier efforts for 2nd place.
